Advocate on behalf of Listening House and services to people experiencing homelessness in St. Paul, 12/6

On Dec. 6, the St. Paul City Council will be voting on a restriction placed on Listening House to ONLY serve twenty people experiencing homelessness per day. This arbitrary limitation was placed upon Listening House a few weeks ago by the city’s planning commission as a condition of their serving the homeless at their new site in the basement of First Lutheran Church on Maria Street and East 7th Street in the Swede Hollow Neighborhood. This restriction came months after Listening House properly applied and was granted permission by the city’s planning office staff to provide services to the homeless in accords with the mission of the church at this new location. If you are a St. Paul Resident, please call, email, or send a letter to all St. Paul City Council Members saying that you support Listening House’s ministry to the homeless and that faith-based institutions throughout the city, including First Lutheran Church, should not be limited in their efforts to welcome the stranger, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and comfort the homeless and afflicted. Thank you for advocating on behalf of our dear sisters and brothers experiencing homelessness in St. Paul as we move into the critical cold, wintry months of the Minnesota year.
